George Millward

1937 - 2026

 George Sidney Millward, beloved husband of the late Agnes Millward, passed away peacefully in Taber on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the age of 88 years.

George will be lovingly remembered by his three children Janet Giffin of Ajax, Ontario; Linda Leber of Calgary and Jeff Millward of Taber. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren Ryan, Justine, Heinz and Hannah and a cherished great grandfather to Aedan, Madison and Avery.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Agnes Millward, with whom he shared forty one years of marriage.

Born in Toronto, Ontario on August 9, 1937, George lived a life marked by hard work, service and quiet strength. In his younger years, he served in the American military as a paratrooper and medic, demonstrating courage, discipline and a deep care for others.

Following his military service, George built a solid working life. He worked for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), driving a streetcar and later spent many years as a heavy equipment operator with Fording Coal Ltd in Elkford, British Columbia. He was known throughout his career for his reliability, skill and strong work ethic. George’s steady presence, devotion to his family and life of service will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

George will be privately remembered remembered by his family.
