Brian was born on October 30, 1949. As a young man, he worked as a school bus driver while in grade twelve, an early example of his strong work ethic and quiet sense of responsibility. He built a life centered on faith, family, hard work and service. For over twenty years, Brian faced cancer and numerous other health challenges with remarkable strength, resilience and faith, continuing to live a full and meaningful life despite the challenges he carried.
Brian was actively involved in the Beef and Horse 4-H programs, the Sugar Beet Growers and faithfully served in various church callings; especially the Boy Scout program throughout his life. Brian had a deep love for the land and took great pride in farming and providing for his family. Known for his resourcefulness, Brian was a true “MacGyver” and there was very little he couldn’t fix or weld. If something was broken, Brian would find a way, and more often than not, he would leave it better than before.
Brian was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He ensured all of his children and his grandchildren had a love for horses. His greatest joy was found in the everyday moments with his grandchildren, moments that now feel both tender and sacred. They will always remember making pasta at his side, learning how to fix things in his shop, and the quiet acts of love shown as they helped care for him. Summers were marked by laughter at backyard grain bin pool parties, and slower days were spent laying on the trampoline in the warm sun, simply being together. These are the memories that will live on, stitched into their hearts.
With his strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Brian held firmly to the promise of eternal families. There is comfort in knowing he has been joyfully reunited with his sweetheart, Valerie, a long-awaited embrace. Though he will be deeply missed, his life leaves behind a legacy of steady faith, quiet strength and enduring love that will continue to guide his family.
Happy trails! Until we meet again.
