Lane Waddle

1958 - 2026

Sheldon Lane Waddle, beloved son of Pat and the late Harlan Waddle, passed away in Nelson, British Columbia on Friday, July 3, 2026 at the age of 68 years.

Lane is survived by his mother Pat Waddle of Lethbridge, as well as his brothers Lyle Waddle of Lethbridge and Keith Waddle of Welling. He is also survived by his niece Sheila (Robert) Stemberger; nephews James (Krista) Waddle and Shawn Higa-Waddle as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Harlan and brother Dean.

Lane was born March 6, 1958, in Taber. He grew up in Taber before moving to Lethbridge for his high school years. After graduating he began a career with CP Rail, working as a train engineer for his entire career. In the 1990’s, Lane relocated to Calgary, where he embraced city life while continuing to pursue the adventures he loved. He finished his career in Medicine Hat before finding his final destination in life, Crawford Bay, British Columbia.

Lane had a true passion for life and an adventurous spirit. He loved to travel, and after purchasing his motorcycle, he found immense joy exploring North America on two wheels, making lifelong friends wherever his journeys took him. Whether he was whitewater rafting, discovering new places across the globe, or simply stopping along the way to visit family and friends, Lane treasured every adventure and every connection he made.

Known for his warm smile, infectious laugh and kind heart, Lane was a true people person. He found happiness in bringing joy to others, especially during the Christmas season. Each year, he proudly dressed up as Santa Claus to visit seniors' homes, brightening the holidays for countless residents. He also delighted children and families by playing Santa for relatives and friends whenever he was asked. Lane had a special gift for connecting with both young and old, and nothing made him happier than seeing someone smile.

Lane's generous spirit, adventurous heart, and genuine kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared in his laughter and friendship.

The celebration of Lane’s life will be held at the Coaldale Community Centre, 1217 - 20 Avenue, Coaldale, on Sunday, August 23 at 1:00 P.M. A private burial will be held at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
