Dean Danforth

1933 - 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of Dean Danforth announce his passing on June 3, 2026, at the age of 92 years.

Dean will be deeply missed by his wife of sixty three years, Stephanie; children Kerri (Ken), Chris (Martha); grandchildren McKinley (Kate), Kellen, Kennedy, Max, Jackson; great grandchild Liza; sisters-in-law Frances and Pauline; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Daisy (née Rorabeck), siblings Geneva Fenton (Howard), Henry (Ruby) and Lester.

Born in Purple Springs, Dean grew up on the family farm near Taber. Later moving to Winnipeg, Dean began a forty two year career with CN Rail and was the last person to apprentice at CN as a steam boilermaker. A dedicated volunteer, he served the Crescentwood community in Winnipeg for more than forty years; Danforth Hall at Crescentwood Community Centre bears his name in recognition of his contributions. Dean was also passionate about baseball and received Baseball Manitoba's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2001.

Dean will be remembered for his love of family, farming, volunteering, baseball, football, cribbage, gardening, fishing and tackling projects around the house.

Dean was proud of his Alberta roots and often spoke of life on the family farm. He treasured his extended family throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia.

The burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden, 7600 - 50 Street, Taber on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:00 A.M.
