Susie Hofer
1939 - 2026
Susie J. Hofer, beloved wife of the late Jacob Hofer Sr., passed away in Lethbridge on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the age of 87 years.
Susie left this earth just as quietly and gracefully as she lived. Born on August 22, 1939 in Raley, Alberta, she carried the grace of her early years into a life defined by kindness and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. She believed that beauty was something to be cultivated daily. Susie was known for her profound hospitality, her home having an open door policy where the coffee was always on and every visitor was treated like family. She had a patient listening ear, offered gentle wisdom and moved through life with a quiet tenacity and a sparkling wit that could illuminate a room.
In 1961, Susie married her late husband, Jake Hofer and after a brief stay at Ewelme, they moved to Cameron, where they raised their family. She took on the role of Colony Stewardess and earned the respect of everybody she worked with.
Later years brought health challenges and life changes. Through those years, Susie was provided with loving care, along with sweet moments of conversation, singing and giving thanks. Susie’s seven children were deeply loved, each one individually special to her. Over the years, she welcomed five daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law into the family. Her thirty one grandchild admired the many talents gramma taught them. Gemeinschaft (living together) was a topic she greatly stressed. She eagerly waited and couldn't wait to meet every great grandchild. Blessed to have known her, blessed to have received her love, blessed to have witnessed her faithfulness over the years and blessed to have a loving Saviour who has now welcomed her into His presence.
Susie is survived and lovingly remembered by her children. She leaves a legacy of love in her children David (Eileen), George (Kathy), Mark (Judy), Glenn (Frieda), Herb (Julia), Esther (Andy) and Julia (Steve). Susie took great pride in her thirty one grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She lived quietly, loved deeply, and left the world more beautiful than she found it.
The Funeral Service will be held at Cameron Farms Colony, Turin on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at the Cameron Farms Colony Cemetery.
