LOUIS REVAK

1905 - 1998

Louis Revak, beloved husband of Mary Revak of Taber, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 1998 at the age of 92 years.
Louis was born on October 22, 1905 in Szendro, Hungary and came to Canada with his mother in November of 1913. Taking nearly a month to cross the ocean, Louis celebrated his eighth birthday on a ship. They eventually joined his father in Taber. He was fifteen when he began working in the Canada West Coalmine in Taber. He also worked in East Coulee, Coalhurst and Redcliff. In his prime, he broke horses and helped his father farm when he could. In 1942 he began farming his own land. He married Mary Bernadette Magyar on December 30, 1942 and they resided three miles South of Taber irrigation farming for thirty one years before retiring to the Town of Taber in 1973. They have resided there for the past twenty five years. Louis enjoyed carpentry work, baseball, television, gardening and inventing. Louis is survived by his loving wife of fifty five years, Mary Bernadette Revak nee Ma gyar; a son Ronald Revak of Whitecourt and a daughter Jeanette (Gordon) Quast of Ma-Me-O Beach; his grandsons Corey (Rae) Quast of Edmonton and Keith (Melanee) Quast of Red Deer; a great-grandson Seth Allan Quast and a great-granddaughter Shayodie Linda Quast; a brother John Revak of Coalhurst; a sister Helen (Mike) Stanko of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was predeceased by his parents Andrew Revak in 1954 and Julianna Kertesz Revak in 1945; brothers and sisters Margaret Revak, Mary (Barney) Barchuk, Annie (Louis) Berta, Andrew Jr. (Annie) Revak and Joe (Theresa) Revak; a grandson Mark Alexander Quast in 1975 and a sister-in-law Elaine Revak.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, October 18, 1998 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 19, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
