JOHN E. JOHNSON

1912 - 2002

John E. Johnson of Foremost, beloved husband of Florence Johnson, passed away at the Bow Island Hospital on Friday, April 5, 2002 at the age of 90 years, after a short struggle with pneumonia.
John was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, on January 19, 1912, to Ole and Caroline Johnson. John was raised on the farm in Pendant’d Oreille until his father passed away in 1925. John then moved to the Foremost area to start farming on his own. On June 29, 1939, John married Florence Ekensteen and they raised two daughters. During this time John and Florence worked hard to keep the family going by hauling the mail. John was fully involved in the day-to-day operations of the farm with his grandson Rick until the time of his passing.
John is survived by his wife, Florence Johnson of Foremost; daughter, Dolores Rayburn (Vince Harty) of Calgary; son-in-law, Bob Roberts of Red Deer; grandchildren, Rick (Lana) Roberts of Foremost, Jeff (Rachel) Roberts of Penhold, and Aaron Roberts (Kristine Hanna) of Red Deer; great-grandchildren, Erica, Brian, Lorelei, Jonathan, and Jackson Roberts. He is also survived by his sister, Christine (Jack) Mitton of Calgary; sisters-in-law, Helen Collins and Mildred Lewis of Calgary, Marian (Ron) Compston of Richmond, and Dorothy Mattox of Florida. John also leaves to cherish his memory many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Roberts; sister, Ella Jennings; brother, Gnr. Henry Johnson and parents Ole and Caroline Johnson.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Foremost Community Hall, 104 - 3 Avenue East, Foremost on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 1:30 P.M. A Private Family Interment followed at the Foremost Cemetery. Friends and neighbors were invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Foremost Community Hall upon the arrival of the family from the interment.
