1909 - 1999

Agnes Kurina (nee Bartosek) born March 29, 1909 in Tvarozna Lhota, Moravia, passed away September 14, 1999.
Agnes is survived by her children Jarmila (Paul) Thibodeau, Henry (Barbara) Kurina, Rose Tyberg, John Frank Kurina, Alice Tizzard, and Frances (Bob) Malcolm; and by her grandchildren Ron and Raymond Thibodeau, Joanne Toth, Janine Davies, Diana Tyberg, Jeanette Hedingham, Rhonda Friesen, Christine Uhryn, Richard Kurina, Denise Kurina, Kathy Czechowski, David Kurina, Michelle Cej, Monique Brada, Jean Paul Tizzard, and Brad, Christine and Sandra Malcolm; ; fourteen great grandchildren; sisters Litka Krizan and Andela Petr, brother Bedrich and numerous nieces and nephews.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband John in 1998, infant daughter Caroline, Parents Frank and Caroline, brothers Franta and Voytech and a sister Mary Otrhalek.
Agnes came to Canada at the age of eighteen. She worked at the Royal Hotel for the Bonetti family in Taber. She met and married John in 1929 and settled on the farm in Cranford where she resided until her move to Taber Continuing Care in 1997.
One of the ways Agnes expressed her love and caring for her family and friends was through her excellent cooking. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother whose home was always a safe haven for her loved ones. She will ever be remembered for her generous spirit and her beautiful smile for all those who came in contact with her. Thanks for the precious memories, Mom.
Relatives and friends met for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, September 17, 1999 at 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
