FRANK KONCZ

1931 - 1999

Frank Koncz, beloved husband of Margaret Koncz of Taber, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after his couregous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the age of 68 years.
Frank was born at Szentgotthard Vas Megye, Hungary on August 9, 1931, the youngest son of Imre and Katalin Koncz. He came to Canada in 1951 settling in Natal, British Columbia where he worked in a sawmill. Frank married Margaret Pekanov in November of 1957 and in 1961 moved to the Taber area where he farmed. Frank and Margaret moved to the town of Taber in 1984 and in 1985 he began working at the Taber Agri-Plex until he retired in 1993. He enjoyed all sports but his real passion was hockey. He was very active over the years coaching and being equipment manager for hockey teams and came to be known at the rink as the “Silver Fox”. As a result of his dedication to hockey he was awarded the Gordon Hacking Memorial Trophy. Frank was a true hearted Flames fan.
Frank was a very special person and was loved by all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife Margaret, Frank leaves to cherish his memory his children Robert (Elly) of Taber, Michael (Deanna) of Trabuco Canyon, California, Kenneth (Lori Ann) of Taber, Kirk (Dixie) of Taber and Catherine (Wade) Kerner of Taber; thirteen very special grandchildren Chayia, Austin, Pierce, Makenzie, Kristina, Michael, Cody, Jordi, Shayne, Kimberley, Tyler, Chalsea and Logan and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother James.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, October 10, 1999 at 6:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, October 11, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
