MARGARET MERESKI

1924 - 2000

Margaret Deirdre Mereski, beloved wife of John Mereski, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, March 30, 2000 at the age of 75 years.
Margaret was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon where she spent the first ten years of her life before moving to Victoria, British Columbia with her family. She met and married her lifetime companion, John Mereski there, and moved to Taber where she has lived for the past fifty three years. Margaret was an ardent hobbiest, enjoying many arts and crafts, including drawing and painting. She and John spent many years square dancing where they made many lifelong friends. She loved the fourteen winters she and John spent in Phoenix, Arizona where she began to pursue an interest in golf. Throughout her life, she had a passion for crossword puzzles and TV game shows. At the age seventy she bought her first computer and began taking computer courses. She enjoyed sending email to her friends, children and grandchildren, as well as pursuing her quest for information on the internet, and the quiet hours of computer games. She was an honorary life member of St. Theodore’s Anglican Church Women as well as an active member of St. Theodore’s congregation.
Besides her loving companion John of fifty three years, Margaret will be remembered by her children Sheila (Gary) Heck of Lethbridge and their children Nikki (Tony) Cale of Grande Prairie and James Heck of Lethbridge; Sydney Mereski and his fiance Lynn McLennan and son Travis of Taber; David (Teresa) Mereski and their children Elliot Mereski and Graham Mereski all of Lethbridge; Dianne (Michael) Wagner of Salmon Arm, British Columbia and their children Christopher Madsen and Scott Madsen both of Lethbridge. She is also survived by a sister Patricia Fraser and her children; her brothers and sisters-in-law Frank Fraser, John Gettman, Ann and Alvin Clayton, Alice Cowie, Stella Ingoldsby, Helen and Bob Knowlden, Janet and Harold Dench and Vincent and Audrey Mereski.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Winifred Coulter; her parents-in-law Vincent and Irene Mereski; Trevor Digby, Stanley Seleski, Jenny and Walter Ilnicki, Mary Gettman, Margaret and George Powell, Jim Cowie and Roy Ingoldsby.
The Funeral Service was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber, on Monday, April 3, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dale Lang officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
