Gerald Pierson
1945 - 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a father, grandfather, brother and son, Gerald Grant Pierson, at home in Coaldale on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Gerald was a strong and proud man who ferociously battled adversity and illness in the final years of his life.
The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. A committal service followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Gerald is survived by his children Kimberley (Gregory) Wikenheiser of Lethbridge and their children Zachary and Delaney; Cam Pierson of Coaldale; Chad Pierson of Coaldale and his children Terry, Tristan and Haylee. He is also survived by his Mother Lavern Pierson of Taber; brothers Joel (Marilyn) Pierson of Lethbridge and Roy (Barb) Pierson of Taber; brother-in-law Robert (Marilyn) Perini of Carsland; sister-in-law Gloria Frizzell of Vancouver, British Columbia; mother-in-law Kay Biholar of Taber and by numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife June Pierson, father Ray Pierson and father-in-law John Biholar.
Gerald was born in Taber in 1945, where he resided during his formative years. He met his soulmate June and they married in 1967. Soon after, they began a family and moved to Calgary.
Gerald was a hard worker and was promoted quickly within the Revelstoke Concrete Company. In 1981 he had the opportunity to move back to his roots and take over the Lethbridge office. The family settled in Coaldale and began a new chapter. After a fire destroyed the Revelstoke plant, he moved on to become the Dispatch Foreman at Lafarge and remained there until his retirement.
His hard work paid off and he and June were able to golf all summer and to become ‘snowbirds’ in the winter. They made many wonderful friends throughout their life together and created amazing memories, which he cherished.
Gerald was an active and proud father and grandfather, spending many hours coaching, teaching and playing with his children and grandchildren. He took wonderful care of his family and could always be counted on to fix what needed repair. He was not one to sit idle. Gerald was a boxer and a boxing coach, raced cars , coached hockey and baseball. He was the family mechanic, plumber, carpenter and electrician. He loved and hated to golf.
Gerald was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
