Left to cherish her memory is her husband of sixty seven years, Jim; their children Carlee Oshiro-Fallis of Calgary, Darrell (Jennifer) Oshiro of Vernon, Carol (Dan) Merkle of Lethbridge and Jaylene Oshiro of Calgary; grandchildren Cole, Chase, Cali (Tyson), Kayla, Graydon (Katie), and Courtney. Daisy is also survived by her brothers Sat (Shirley) and Wayne; sisters-in-law Ty, May and Yas as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Kiichi and Tsuruyo Maruyama; siblings Tuck, Ken, Jack, Jane, Gen, Norma, Katy, and Paul; sisters-in-law Marge, Lorraine and Anna Mae; brother-in-law Tak Kano.

Daisy was born March 18, 1934, in Fraser Mills, British Columbia. She moved to southern Alberta where she later met and married Jim Oshiro on November 10, 1955. Together, they raised their four children in Taber. Daisy was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were attending school. She returned to work at Alberta Agriculture and was a RITE operator for the Government of Alberta until she retired in 1988.

Daisy and Jim spent their early retirement years in the Okanagan, British Columbia, making Vernon and Kelowna their home for almost eight years. In 1996, they returned to southern Alberta, residing in Coaldale for eighteen years before settling in Lethbridge in 2014. Daisy was full of kindness and generosity. She loved being of service and enjoyed her time volunteering with the Taber 4H Club, Coaldale Continuing Care Centre and the Vernon Funjinkai. Daisy embraced and found much joy in her crafts and hobbies. From origami and doll making, to crocheting and quilting, she was delighted to share her beautiful creations with family and friends. She also loved to bake and took pride in mastering some amazing recipes, that are still loved by her family.

Daisy enjoyed curling, golfing, entertaining and meeting new people. She loved to laugh, and treasured the time spent with family and friends. Family visits were never complete without a few rounds of cards and board games, that went late into the night with plenty of eats and laughs. Remembering her walks with her sister-in-law Grace and her granddaughter Courtney, always put a smile on her face. Daisy especially loved to spoil her grandchildren with all of their favourite things.

If family and friends so desire, memorial tributes in Daisy’s name may be made directly to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5 www.crhfoundation.ca or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 995 Station Main, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4A4 www.kidney.ca.

Daisy’s family are very grateful for the assistance she received from the Lethbridge Family Home Services while residing at the Seasons Lethbridge Gardens. Additionally, Daisy’s family would like to thank Dr. Wong and his team at the renal clinic, as well as the nurses and staff at the Good Samaritan West Highland Centre for all their care and support.
