MARY ROSS
1924 - 2003
It is with heartfelt sadness and deep sorrow we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mary Ross. Surrounded by her family, Mary passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003 at the Taber Continuing Care Facility.
Mary was born on May 15, 1924 in Walsh, Alberta on the farm. She left home at the age of 16 years and moved to Medicine Hat. She married and eventually moved to Taber in 1949 where she has lived until her passing. She worked in the Taber Cafe, Palace Coffee Shop, Cornwall Cannery, Alta Fresh and at the Legion where Mom was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for 43 years. Mom enjoyed knitting, embroidery, puzzels, cards and cooking for her family and visits from company.
Mary is survived by her children Diana (Bob) Stewart, Mike (Holly) Ross, Margaret Ross (Fred), Carol (Leonard) McCarty and Marie Ross (Rob); grandchildren Betty, Lynne, Jackie, Bonnie, Jennifer, Blair, Patty, Carrie, Cindy, Brad, Chris and Lorena; great grandchildren Ryan, Mark, Amanda, Cassandra, Zachary and Parker; sisters Rachel Bigelow, Esther (Len) Lazzarri and Gene (George) Myers; brothers Jack (Margaret) Genert and Alan (Lolly) Genert; sisters-in-law Irene Genert and Norma Genert; friend and neighbour Jeanie Marczuk and numerous nephews and nieces to whom she was more than an aunt - more like a mother.
She was predeceased by her son Mark in 1962; parents Christof and Margaret Genert; sisters Chrissie, Debie and Lil; brothers Bill, Dave, Howard and twin brother Mike Genert.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
