CHRISTINA COUTTS

1918 - 2008

Christina Coutts, beloved wife of the late John Coutts, passed away in Bow Island on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the age of 90 years.
Christina Coutts (nee Cunningham) was born February 14, 1918 in Kelty, Scotland. She married John Coutts on March 7, 1942 in Edinburgh, Scotland and together they raised a family of four children, Nancy (Bob) Johnson their children Cheryl and Shelley; David (Nolly) Coutts their children Anita and Glenda; Allan (Judy) Coutts and their children Lisa, John and Brian; George (Gloria) Coutts and their children Jennifer and Jeff. Also left behind are ten great grandchildren.
Mum (as she always signed her name) was a war bride and came to Canada after the war. They first resided in Edmonton and in 1954 they moved to the Bow Island area where they raised their children. She was a founding member of the Bow Island Hospital Auxiliary, loved to bowl and never got tired of having her grandchildren or great grandchildren around her. Grandma had a very youthful spirit and was always willing to participate in any activities her children or grandchildren would think of, whether it was baseball, swimming, tobogganing, playing Monopoly (she was wicked with that), camping or playing cards.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 1982; grandson Paul Twidale; son-in-law Bob Johnson and by two brothers in Scotland. The only one to survive her is her brother-in-law Jim (Norma) Coutts of Fort Macleod, besides nieces and nephews in Scotland and Canada.
Christina never forgot her scottish heritage and kept her brogue until the day she left this earth. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and her memory will be with us forever.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Bow Island Evangelical Free Church, 214 - 4 Avenue West, Bow Island on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Mike DeRidder officiating.
Burial to follow at the Bow Island Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Christina’s name may be made directly to the Bow Island Health Centre, P.O. Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0 or to the Southern Alberta Bible Camp, P.O. Box 99, Lomond, Alberta T0L 1G0.
