Coba Buining

1941 - 2025

 Jacoba Hendrika Buining, beloved wife of Ralph Buining, passed away in Bow Island on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the age of 83 years.

Coba was born on June 25, 1941 to Jan and Aaltje Dallinga in Borger (Dr) the Netherlands. In 1972, she followed Roelf Buining, who had immigrated to Canada in 1965 starting a small farm in the Burdett area, bringing with her Alma and Rudy aged six and seven. On August 5, 1972 they married. Three more children, Janet, Jennie and Evelyn were born.

Coba made friends easily and was well liked in the community. She liked people and was a great asset to the Burdett Community Hall. Together with Elsa Wever and Pieta Van Es, they made a great team serving many banquets, large and small. This resulted in a Burdett Citizen of the Year award in 2000. In 2024, Coba and Ralph moved to Bow Island to retire. Unfortunately, cancer took its toll. Her last words were “It’s ok … it’s ok … it’s ok”.

Coba will be privately remembered by her family.
