He is also survived by his brothers Jerry (Gail) Layton, Myron (Judy) Layton and Gordon (Gita) Layton; sisters Betty Bird and Barbara Wright; brothers-in-law Rodney Zaugg and Garold (Margaret) Bullock; sisters-in-law Darlene Layton and Elaine Hirshe Wilkes.

He was predeceased by his parents Calvin and Iola Layton; brother Dick Layton; sister Carolyn Zaugg, brothers-in-law Ray Bird, Ken (Jean) Bullock, Doran Wilkes and Delynn Hirsche.

Leo was born May 19, 1940 to Calvin and Iola (née Harding) Layton. He grew up on the family farm south of the sugar factory. Being raised with seven siblings there was a lot of give and take, but also plenty of loving, caring and sharing. Leo was taught at an early age good work ethics and to love his Heavenly Father.

At the age of twenty one, Leo served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to New Zealand. Soon after his return he married his sweetheart Diane Bullock. Leo was born and raised on one end of the section and Diane was born and raised on the other, later they built their home together in the middle. Leo and Diane were blessed with two sons, Blair and Robert. Leo farmed and went to work for Great Plains Supply to supplement their income, later he worked for O & R Irrigation. But the job he loved most was with the Municipal District of Taber, where he worked for thirty five years. Life was good - work all week, enjoy sporting activities with the boys and church on Sunday. When the boys left home and went on their missions, Leo sold the farm and they started enjoying retirement by heading south to Yuma for their winters.
