Vickie Richter

1931 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Anna Victoria Richter, announce the passing of their beautiful Mother on Saturday, November 15, 2025, just four days shy of her 94th birthday.

Vickie was born November 19, 1931 in Richmound, Saskatchewan, the eldest child of Joe and Minnie Miller. She grew up in Taber and on June 20, 1950, she married her sweetheart Manirod Richter and they were married almost fifty nine years before Manirod passed in 2009. The following year, they started their family with the birth of their first daughter Dianna, followed by Charlotte, Donna, Larry and Sherry. Vickie and Manirod lived in Taber, Bow Island and Picture Butte, with the final move to Lethbridge.

Manirod was moved to St. Michael’s in 2007, so Vickie set up residence at Martha’s House (Covenant Living) so she could just walk across the parking lot to see him. She truly enjoyed her fourteen years there until her health started to slowly decline and she made her final move to St. Therese Villa. She loved camping with her grandkids, trips to Disneyland and yearly trips to Kimberly, British Columbia for music and dancing. She joined a bridge club and was an accomplished player and enjoyed her weekly bingo.

Vickie was a true homemaker, a role she loved, if she wasn’t baking or cooking she would be gardening, canning, tending her flowers, knitting, sewing or quilting. She was a prolific seamstress and made most of her own clothes, sewed all her daughters’ wedding dresses, as well as her daughter-in-law’s. She loved to sew matching Christmas dresses for her granddaughters and their dolls. Vickie was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family - the more the merrier!

Her Catholic faith was strong and she would pray a minimum of five rosaries a day along with watching Mass on television.

Vickie is survived by her five children Dianna Garrecht of Medicine Hat, Charlotte Berge of Lethbridge, Donna Richter of High River, Larry (Deb) Richter of Lethbridge County and Sherry (Keith) Brown of Lethbridge; twelve grandchildren Jody, Melanie, Karissa, Lindsay (Kasper), Nik (Holly), Courtney (Brad), Tyler (Bre), Colin (Erin), Craig (Meghan),Theran (Noriko), Keenan (Jenna) and Austin; fifteen great grandchildren Logan, Kason, Karli, Tylen, Macie-Nova, Lane, Micah, Macey-Lee, Jackson, Kael, Kelton, Reese, Carson, Lex and Guillaume. She is also survived by her devoted baby sister and best friend, Betty Andrus (Les †) who she loved dearly, as well as her sister-in-law Florence Miller and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Manirod Richter; her parents Joe and Minnie Miller; brothers Tony, George and sister Ethel; son-in-law Harvey Garrecht and granddaughter Kelsey Brown.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. Private burial to follow at Taber Memorial Garden.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at St. Therese Villa for the care and compassion given to Vickie and for the kind words shared with her family.
