Chloe Petek
1992 - 2026
It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Chloe Beth Petek in Lethbridge on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the age of 34 years.
Chloe will be deeply missed by her loving parents Rob and Candy Petek; sister Lyndsay (Riley) Brown of Vauxhall and their children Jackson and Harper; brother Matthew (Mackenzie) Petek of Taber and their children Brynlee, Briar, Blake and Bowen. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandma Arlene Smith as well as many aunties, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends, too many to name, as well as her beloved cat, Ruby.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Lewis and Myrna Petek and Robert “Papa” Smith, along with dear aunties and uncles whom she loved deeply.
Chloe was a force, tenacious, spirited, passionate and bright. She lived boldly and filled every room she entered with energy, laughter and unmistakable presence. As a little girl, Chloe was an animal lover who adored cats and spent many happy days by the old tree on the swing, often singing joyfully for all to hear. Those simple moments reflected the thoughtful and spirited person she would grow to be. She loved music, good food and time spent with friends. Chloe spent many cherished years working at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Lethbridge with Ryan and Reiko. She graduated from the University of Lethbridge with her Bachelor of Science and a major in Addictions Counselling. Through her work and her life, she formed deep friendships and connections that meant so much to her. Chloe dedicated much of her life to serving others through her work as an addictions counsellor and working for SASHA Southern Alberta Self Help Association (SASHA) and Alberta Health Services. She stood fiercely for the underdog and walked alongside people in some of their darkest moments, offering compassion, understanding and unwavering support. To her family, Chloe was something even more special. She was our Chloe Beth, and to her nieces and nephews she was simply “Aunty Coco.” She delighted in bejeweling hair, applying makeup and face masks, reading stories, and playing games during holidays and family gatherings. Chloe never missed an opportunity to tell them how much she loved them, and they loved her just as fiercely in return. She approached life with intensity and conviction, always determined to do things her own way. Those closest to her knew that behind that strength was a deeply loving soul who cared fiercely for the people in her life.
Though her time with us was far too short, Chloe lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and bold spirit. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, the family who loves her deeply, and the friends who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed and forever loved. Oh, how we all loved her.
