David Houston

1949 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Gerard Houston, who left us peacefully at his home in Raymond on Sunday, April 5, 2026 at the age of 76 years.

David is survived by his children Chelsea (Brian) Knight, Christopher (Kirstie) Houston, Dustyn (Taylor) Houston, Cayleigh and Carsyn Houston; sister Geraldine Unger. His memory will also be lived on through his grandchildren Lamya, Charlotte, Rhett, Julien, Nicholas, George and Lauren and his extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind Marlyne’s family and many dear friends, as well as his faithful companion, his dog Dior, who will be lovingly cared for by his son Dustyn and family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlyne Johnson-Houston, daughter Stephanie Houston and brother Don Houston, brother-in-law Dave Unger.

David was able to spend his final days in the comfort of his new home, a place of peace following a wonderful time spent enjoying the company of some of his beloved grandchildren. Born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan to Viola and Alexander Durand “A.D” Houston, David was a man of quiet strength, steady work ethic and deep devotion to his faith and family. After moving to Lethbridge to begin his career with AGT (Alberta Government Telephones), David became a familiar face in the community. Over the years, he wore many hats, from managing Bridge Villa trailer park and working as a guard at the Lethbridge Jail, to his long tenure as a dedicated custodian for the Lethbridge Catholic School Division until his retirement. Never one to sit still for long, he spent his retirement years managing a local liquor store just to stay occupied and keep connected with his neighbors.

David’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a proud fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 4743), a brotherhood he shared deeply with his brother Don. Rest in peace, David. Your work is done, and your legacy lives on.

David will be laid to rest with his brother Don at the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
