Sheila was born in Calgary on July 30, 1934. She attended various schools in Calgary where she completed grade ten. After grade ten Sheila had to go to work to help with the household finances. She eventually started work at McDermid Drug Store in Calgary where she eventually met Ken. After a few years of dating, Ken and Sheila were married in Calgary on June 14, 1958. Because of Ken’s work with BMO, they were transferred numerous times before arriving in Taber in 1973.
Sheila was an Avon lady, Mary Kay sales rep along with working at Dr. Hammon as a teacher’s aide. She worked with many special needs children which she loved. Golfing, curling, bike riding, camping and even weeding the garden brought her great joy. Once Sheila retired, she also joined the Parkside Manor Choralaires which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Being a part of her nine great grandchildren lives and watching the Calgary Flames and Stampeders were her greatest passions. Sheila remained in her own home up until the last week of her life. She was quite proud of this.
She will be greatly missed by many but especially by her family.
A private committal service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
