Dale Leeson

1944 - 2026

The family of Dale Harvey Leeson wish to share the news of his passing in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the age of 82 years.

Dale was born in Brooks to Verne and Bonnie Leeson on April 23, 1944. The family lived in several Alberta communities before landing in Vauxhall where Dale finished school and began working. He held several jobs at a young age until he became the entrepreneur we have all come to admire and respect. He provided for his family by working on a road construction crew and trucking before eventually starting Dale Leeson Corral Cleaning. This evolved into Southwest Agrisources to do custom silage and chopping alfalfa for ADCO. In 1986, Dale purchased Lonesome Lake Gravel. For the time period of 1986 to September of 1989, these ventures all existed at the same time. This required amazing management skills. As kids, we recall him on the phone for hours on end lining up crews for the next job.

At the same time, he was calling band members to play for the next gig. From an early age, Dale loved music and would try to play any instrument he could get his hands on, mastering many of them, playing by ear. He played with a number of bands over the years and enjoyed them all.

Deep down, Dale was a farmer. Organic crops and livestock were a passion that he worked hard at until his retirement in 2024.

Besides Mable, Dale will be deeply missed by their children Sandy (Tim) Nygaard of Medicine Hat and their family Miranda and Josh and Marshall and Amanda; Gloria (Rick) Meier of Hays and their family Whitney and Warren and Joel and Dharma; Leanne Meier (Calvin Bevans) of Vauxhall and her family Colter and AJ, Quintin and KayCee and Keaton and Brady; Brad and Judy Leeson of Hays and their family Riley and Justin and Jayda. Dale is also survived by nine great grandchildren, his dear sister Faye and her family and by his special friend Linda.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Hays Civic Centre, 100 - 3 Street, Hays on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 2:00 P.M.

Those who are unable to attend and wish to view the service online may do so by clicking on the livestream link that will be available on this page at 1:45 P.M. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Barring any technical difficulties, the livestream will begin at 2:00 P.M.
