Barry Kinniburgh

1945 - 2026

The Kinniburgh family is sad to announce the passing of Robert “Barry” Kinniburgh. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at the Chinook Regional Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. His faith never wavered and he often said, “I know where I am going”. While his family finds comfort in that promise, he will still be deeply missed by his loving wife Sandra, their three sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barry was born in Taber on November 29, 1945 to Ring and Barbara Kinnburgh. He was the eldest of four children and beloved big brother to Louise, Ron and Allan. On January 5, 1968, he married the love of his life, Sandra, beginning a marriage that would stand the test of time and last more than fifty eight years. Together, they raised three sons Robert, Jim and Warren. Barry dedicated over forty years working in the oil industry and earned numerous awards and the respect from his colleagues through his hard work, integrity and commitment. Barry loved spending time in the outdoors. Whether it was tending to his garden, working in the yard, going to his pasture, feeding his cows and horses, hunting or fishing, he was happiest while he was outside and with his family.

He was a devoted husband to Sandra, father to Robert (Lyanne) Kinniburgh of Lethbridge, Jim (Cindy) Kinniburgh of Taber and Warren (Cori) Kinniburgh of Lethbridge; grandfather to Kassi (Bryson) Iwaasa, Kaylee (Jordan) Sailer, Chase (Hannah) Kinniburgh, Gunner (Taryn) Kinniburgh, Cal (Jenna) Kinniburgh, Colter (Trista) Kinniburgh and five great grandchildren Kale, Kohen and Charlie Iwaasa and Lola and Marlee Sailer. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and by his church family.

In Barry’s memory, we leave you with the words from the song “Lead me home” by Jamey Johnson that brought him comfort in his final weeks. “I have seen my last tomorrow. I am standing on a mountain. I can hear the angel’s song. Take my hand, Lord lead me home.”

A private funeral service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel. Private burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
