VIDEO TRIBUTE
Bill Hansen
1949 - 2026
It is with heavy hearts that family announce the passing of Bill Hansen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, best friend and member of his community. Bill passed away in Calgary on Monday, August 17, 2026 at the age of 77 years.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy of fifty three years and their four children Garret and Ryanna of Red Deer (Joelle, Tenea Hansen Barfuss/Carter Barfuss, Saidi/Andres Gutierrez, Kage); Nikki and Cam Francis of Glenwood (Alexa/Porter Brown, Ashley/Braydon Bester, Mitchell/Summer), Nathan and Makenzie of Eston, Saskatchewan (Eva, Indy, Lottie); Cassidy and Cory Layton of Taber (Madison/Bryson Clifton, Dawson, Rylan). He is also survived by his three great grandchildren Parker and Lainey Brown and Dean Bester; seven siblings and their spouses and Judy's four siblings and their spouses.
He was predeceased by his parents Aaron and Evalyne Hansen, in-laws Elmer and Ava Jensen, an infant son, great granddaughter Brynne Bester, three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
Bill’s family was his greatest pride and joy, and he cherished the time he spent with them and the memories they created together.
Bill was a man of strong LDS faith and his beliefs were an important part of who he was. He found great meaning in serving others, living his faith and helping those around him. His involvement in Scouting gave him another opportunity to mentor, teach, encourage and make a difference in the lives of young people. The lessons, values and example he shared will continue through those he influenced.
Taking after his father, Bill enjoyed working in construction with his dad and brothers for many years. In his late fifties, he went back to school to obtain his 5th class power engineering ticket and worked at the Taber hospital which he also loved.
Bill loved the outdoors and the simple adventures that made life special. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and horseback riding, always finding a way to turn an outing into a story worth remembering. He also had a creative spirit and loved drawing and painting. And, of course, Bill loved to sing, filling the room with his voice and his unmistakable personality.
Those who knew Bill will also remember his reputation as a spirited driver, something that may have caused a few white knuckle moments over the years, but will surely bring laughter and fond memories to those who loved him.
Bill's legacy runs deep in his family and throughout his community. Through his faith, service, friendship and willingness to share his time and talents, he touched countless lives. The lessons he taught, the people he helped and the memories he created will continue to live on for generations.
Though he is no longer with us, Bill's influence remains in the lives of his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, best friends and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Rest peacefully, Bill. Your faith, your service, your laughter and your love will live on. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Till we meet again!
