Connie Gross
1958 - 2026
Connie May Gross, beloved wife of Blaine Gross, passed away in Taber on Monday, September 7, 2026 at the age of 68 years. Our family and community have lost the most amazing wife, mom, sister, sister-in-law, daughter, teacher and teammate that anyone could ever hope for. Our hearts are beyond broken.
Connie was an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her. Her smile would always light up every room she entered. We will carry on and try to represent her love, compassion, adventurous spirit and zeal for life in everything we do. She was and always will be, our role model and hero. Her fight against cancer was a testament to her strength and courage. She never complained and made the very best of the three years since her diagnosis. Her courage and humility in her last few days were a feat to behold, and despite knowing her life was nearing its end, she still showed more concern for her family and friends than herself.
Connie was a lifelong learner, educator, devout Canadian and especially, a Dragon Boater. Some of her proudest moments were when she would run into a former student and hear about how their lives had continued since she had taught them. She took great pride in all her years of teaching, but especially her time spent as an upgrading teacher focusing on helping adults return to school and achieve their GED. She also had a deep love for this country, which was especially evident on Canada Day. The house would be covered in red and white for weeks ahead of time, a tradition we intend to keep in the future. In more recent years, Connie found her true passion in Dragon Boating. The bonds she formed with her teammates, and time she spent travelling across the globe to various races, were some of her proudest memories. Above all else, she was extremely committed to her family. She deeply loved all her family, both extended and immediate and would do anything for them. Connie’s final days were spent surrounded by family that loved her, which meant the world to her in her time of need.
She is survived by her husband Blaine of Taber, her son Mackenzie and wife Courtney of Lethbridge, sisters Shelagh, Colleen, Cathy, twin sister Bonnie, Erin, brother Kevin and her Mother Marie.
She was predeceased by her sister Patcee, and father Donald.
We will miss her dearly but are relieved to know that she is free of her illness. Paddles up Connie, enjoy your next adventure!
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. Private burial to follow at Taber Memorial Garden.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses in Calgary, Lethbridge and Taber for the care provided to Connie through this difficult time. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Haner and Dr. Wes Steed for their gift of kindness and attention to Connie and her family.
