LORNA LLOYD

1944 - 2010

Sadly and sorrowfully we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Lorna Dianne Lloyd on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, surrounded by the love of her family following a short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Wil Stonehill of St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, Taber officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Lorna’s memory will be forever cherished by her loving husband of forty nine years, Ron Lloyd and their three children, Ron (Louise) Lloyd of Ottawa, Teri (Darwyn) Hansen of Purple Springs and Sharla (Darryl) Capner of Taber; the seven loves of her life - her grandchildren, Ronnie and Andrew Lloyd; Blair (special friend Raeann MacKenzie) and Brad Hansen; Jared, Brooke and Taylor Capner. Lorna also had a special place in her heart for her “four legged” grandchildren - the puppies Mac, Toby and Wheeler and the cat Callie whom “grandma” always had a treat for.
Lorna is survived by her brother and sisters, James (Jill) Turnbull, Sharmaine (Richard) Nevil, Sandra (John) Braun and Linda Turnbull; brother-in-law Frank Gross, sister-in-law Wanda Lloyd and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents James & Dora Turnbull; Ron’s parents Maurice & Ethel Lloyd; her brother Donald Turnbull; brother-in-law Richard Lloyd; sister-in-law Joan Gross and nephew Kyle Nelson.
Lorna was born to James & Dora Turnbull on September 30, 1944 in Lethbridge. She married Ron Lloyd in Taber on January 12, 1962.
Ron and Lorna developed a love for golfing and camping both at the Indian Hill Golf Course and in Wellton, Arizona where they spent their winter months after she retired in 2005 from the Taber Police Service after having been employed for twenty one years.
Lorna was dedicated to her family and friends, always putting the needs of her children, grandchildren and friends ahead of her own. She was a wonderful seamstress, quilter and cook. Since her talents extended from homemade canning to crafting beautiful needlepoint pictures for her kids and grandkids or responding to a simple “Grandma I need my pants hemmed”, we always knew we could count on her for anything.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Lorna’s name may be made directly to the Taber & District Health Foundation (Palliative Care Unit), 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9 or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, in care of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2.
