STELLA MARTHALLER

1906 - 1998

Stella Marthaller of Taber, beloved wife of the late Simon Marthaller, passed away in Taber on Thursday, June 25, 1998 at the age of 92 years.
Stella was born on January 15, 1906 in North Dakota, the daughter of Edmund & Louise Fortin. She came to Canada with her parents in 1909 and received most of her education in Grassy Lake. In 1923 she married Fern Knibb and together they farmed in the Grassy Lake area and raised their five children. They celebrated their fifty sixth Wedding Anniversary in December of 1980 and shortly thereafter Fern passed away. Stella married Simon Marthaller in 1982 and at the time of her passing was a resident of the Taber Continuing Care.
She is survived by her five children Louise Jensen, Joyce (Morris) Nelson, Ronald (Rosie) Knibb, Vernon (Helen) Knibb and Edgar (Norma) Knibb; eight step children Victoria Plettl, Juanita Vikedal, Doreen Bradley, Elvena Kambeitz, Simone Weiss, Vincent Marthaller, Lynn Marthaller and Garry Marthaller; thirty five grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren and a brother Sylvio Fortin.
She was predeceased by her first husband Fern Knibb; second husband Simon Marthaller; son-in-law Marion Jensen; a daughter-in-law Lola Knibb; six brothers and four sisters.
Relatives and friends met with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, June 26, 1998 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Taber on Saturday, June 27, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend David Meadows celebrant. A private family Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Stella’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
