1922 - 2003

John (Smooch) Goruk of Taber, beloved husband of the late Lillian Goruk, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the age of 80 years.
John will be forever remembered by his children, Marilyn (Corrido), Donna (Lee) Turnbull, Ron (Judy), Gordon (Pat) and Shari (Bill) Brezovski. He was the proud grandfather of Sheila (Peter) Gruenhage, Michael and Brad Goruk, Kurtis and Leanne Brezovski and great-grandfather to Brody Turnbull and Austin and Abigail Gruenhage. John is also survived by his brother Jack (Frances) Goruk and his sister Mary Baroldi; sister-in-law Dorothy Santoni and granddaughter-in-law Jacquie Kuss.
He was predeceased by his grandson Troy Turnbull and a brother Nick.
Smooch was born on April 26, 1922 in Taber, a son born to Nick and Helen Goruk. He married Lillian Baroldi on March 1, 1942. John was employed with Taber Transport and was a dedicated employee for over 40 years. He was a life member of the Elks Club and a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. His passions in life included his family, fishing and he took great pride in his yard and was particularly fond of his apple tree.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, March 21, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
