FLORENCE JOHNSON

1917 - 2003

Florence Agnes Johnson of Foremost, beloved wife of the late John E. Johnson, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the age of 85 years.
Florence was born in Hallock, Minnesota, on August 21, 1917 to Oscar and Edith Ekensteen and was raised on the family farm north of Foremost. On June 29, 1939 Florence married John Johnson and they raised two daughters. During this time John and Florence worked hard to keep the family going by hauling the mail. Florence was a housewife and avid gardener and continued to keep up the farm yard until a few years before her passing.
Florence is survived by her daughter Dolores Rayburn (Vince Harty) of Calgary; son-in-law Bob Roberts of Red Deer; grandchildren Rick (Lana) Roberts of Foremost, Jeff (Rachel) Roberts of Penhold and Aaron Roberts (Kristine Hanna) of Red Deer; great grandchildren Erica, Brian, Lorelei, Jonathan, Jackson and Alexa Roberts. She is also survived by her sisters Helen Collins and Mildred Lewis of Calgary, Marian (Ron) Compston of Richmond and Dorothy Mattox of Airdrie and a sister-in-law Christine (Jack) Mitton of Calgary. Florence also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John and daughter Carol Roberts.
The Funeral Service was held at the Foremost Community Hall, 104 - 3rd Avenue East, Foremost on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Lara Bowditch officiating. A private family interment followed in the Foremost Cemetery. Friends and neighbors were invited to join the family for a luncheon at the Foremost Community Hall following the Interment.
