CHARLIE ROCKENBACH

1916 - 2003

Charles Robert Rockenbach, beloved husband of Betty Rockenbach of Lethbridge, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2003 at the age of 87 years.
Charlie was born at El Reno, Oklahoma on January 10, 1916, a son born to Walter and Maude Rockenbach. As a young man he moved to the Wrentham area where he farmed all of his life. He married Betty Ericksen on June 5, 1944. Charlie knew every aspect of farming including crop spraying. He loved to fly his plane whether it be for leisure or when he would be working spraying crops. Charlie took time from his busy farming routine to enjoy life. Every year he looked forward to the hunting trip that he and his buddies would go on in the fall. His life long dream was to experience an African Safari which he accomplished. Following the Safari he added to his travels with a tour of Europe. He was active within the community of Wrentham and served on the County Council for many years and was a longtime member of the Wrentham Lions Club. Charlie also had an ear for music and played in the orchestra called the Knights of Rhythm for many years. Charlie will be forever remembered by his wife Betty and his children, Dianna (Tom) Ivins of Lethbridge and their daughter Tanya (Cole) Nelson; Morgan (Lenore) Rockenbach and their children Jason, Amber and Logan; Kim (Sandra) Rockenbach and their children Kyle and Krista; three great-grandchildren Haley and Falen Nelson and Mackenzie Goodwin. He is also survived by two sisters, Lois Hansen and Edna (Glen) Metzger as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; granddaughter Kaitlan Rockenbach and three sisters Ethel Rollag, Dorothy Burger and Beverly Rockenbach.
A private family interment took place at the Wrentham Cemetery on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating. Following the interment service, relatives and friends were invited to meet with family at the Wrentham Community Centre at 2:00 p.m. for a time of fellowship and at 3:00 P.M. a Celebration of Charlie’s Life was held.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Charlie’s name can be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. 1441 Aviation Park N.E., P.O. Box 570, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7.
