LIZA SEKURA

1910 - 1999

Elizabeth Sekura of Taber, beloved wife of the late Frank Sekura, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at the age of 89 years.
Elizabeth was born on January 28, 1910 at Sokolovac, Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada in March 1938 with her husband Frank and son Joe, settling in the Taber area and eventually farming east of Taber. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1971 and in December of 1975 moved to Taber where she has resided since. Throughout her life Elizabeth’s family and close friends were very important to her.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children Joe (Mary) Sekura of Taber, Elizabeth (Karl) Bandelow of Calgary, Theresa (Donald) Maxwell of Calgary, Mary (Blair) Wagner of Taber, Frank (Ann) Sekura of Taber and Virginia (Bud) Lewis of Red Deer; eighteen grandchildren Lydia, Bonnie, Anthony, Matthew, Kevin (Laurie), Kathryn (Patrick), Melissa, Kimberley, Sara, Stephanie, Suzanne (Jason), Michael, Jason, Jim (Jodene), Chris (Julie), Rob, Joshua and James; six great grandchildren Darrel, Denise, Tiffany, Nicole, Julia and Sarah.
Relatives and friends met for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, August 6, 1999 at 9:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, August 7, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend John Maes Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
