DORIS WILLIAMS

1929 - 2000

Doris Williams passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, January 20, 2000 at the age of 70 years.
Doris was born on the family farm south of Purple Springs on December 30, 1929 the daughter of Arthur and Mazie Noble. She helped out on the farm and attended school at Hudson School and W.R. Myers. Doris later graduated from hairdressing school in Lethbridge and was employed at Waterton Lakes for the summer months before returning to Taber where she opened her own beauty salon. In 1960 she went to work for Perdue Motors in the accounting department. The following year, on October 20, 1961 she married Ross Petrie who ran and later owned Petrie’s Pantry. Doris worked along side of her husband Ross at the restaurant until he passed away on February 14, 1967. Doris was a member of The Women of the Moose and Order of the Royal Purple.
Doris will be forever remembered by her children, sons Sandy (Kerilee) Petrie and their children Scott, Corey and Jamie; Ross (Liane) Petrie and their children Brandie, Jesse and Brenden; her daughter Beth Petrie; sister Mae (Dick) Hudson; brother Jim (Elaine) Noble and an uncle Clifford Schonert.
Doris was predeceased by her parents; her husband Ross; two brothers, Donald and David, and two sisters Phyllis Klassen and Della Rombough.
Friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, January 23, 2000 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 24, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
