MELVIN ONDRIK

1957 - 2001

Melvin Ondrik, beloved husband of Chris Ondrik of Whitecourt, Alberta, passed away near Brooks on Monday, June 25, 2001 at the age of 43 years.
Melvin was born on October 27, 1957 in Lethbridge, the son of Roy and Grace Ondrik. Mel was raised in Foremost where he attended school and worked on the farm with his family. He worked various jobs before being drawn to the life of a truck driver. Mel felt this was his calling and it became his passion in life. He worked in the oil industry driving truck for many years, always enjoying his work and his co-workers. On his days off Mel could be found at the shop; his truck was his hobby. At the time of his passing he was employed with Speedy Heavy Hauling. Mel married Chris Thomas on November 4, 1995 in Brooks. They had resided in Taber and the Vulcan area and for the past two years had lived in the Whitecourt area. Mel had just discovered the world of computers and spent countless hours on it playing solitaire.
Mel will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Chris; his daughter Ashley and her daughter Samantha; father Roy Ondrik and his wife Gelane; sisters and brother Audrey (Jim) Bird, Sandy (Greg) Franke, Morgan (Daphne) Ondrik and Bonnie (Gordon) Casper and also by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his mother Grace in 1994.
The Funeral Service was held at the Foremost Community Hall on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Lara Bowditch of the United Church of Canada officiating. Interment followed in the Foremost Cemetery.
