DON JENSEN

1931 - 2000

Donald Leroy Jensen, beloved husband of Hazel Jensen of Taber, passed away in Calgary on Sunday, April 2, 2000 at the age of 68 years.
Don was born the son of Virgil and Alyce Jensen in Taber on June 29, 1931. From the time he was a youngster, Don developed a keen interest in baseball. Over the years he loved to play the game, coach hardball and ladies fastball and umpire both hardball and fastball. He was especially proud to watch his grandchildren play the sport. Don was called on many times to be the Master of Ceremonies at many dances and weddings. He played the mouth organ and loved oldtime dancing. He always looked forward to family reunions when everyone laughed and visited, played their music and danced into the wee hours.
Don was a volunteer with the Taber Firemen and Ambulance and looked forward to the hoselaying competition. His passions were art, drawing and knife making. He loved his puppy Billy and Cockatiel Buddy and missed his dogs Tippy and Lady who passed away.
Don was a man that loved life to the fullest, but above all else his family came first and was everything to him. He was so proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and never hesitated to give them anything they needed for any special interest they pursued.
Don will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Hazel; children Brian (Erika) Jensen and children Charla, David and Jared; Debra (Richard) Peterson and children Richard Jr. and Shaun; Brenda Jensen and children Angie, Jason and Christine; Cheryl (Doug) Olser and children Lori (Destiny and Jordan), Michael and Matthew; and Brent (Shell) Jensen and children Alex and Breanne. He is also survived by his beloved sisters Betty (Norman) Bullock and Sharon (Garth) Hughes; brother Gary (Sharon) Jensen; mother-in-law Doris Freeland and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Brent.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Kendon Bennett conducting.
