CLARENCE ROMBOUGH

1906 - 2001

Clarence Hamilton Rombough, beloved husband of Edith Rombough, passed away peacefully in Taber on Wednesday, October, 17, 2001 at the age of 95 years.
Clarence was born oldest of fifteen children to Samuel and Jean Rombough on August 7, 1906 at Brandon, Manitoba. At the age of 12 years he moved with his family to Purple Springs where the family lived for a number of years. As a young man Clarence began his passion in life which was farming. He started to work at a farm southwest of Grassy Lake and continued to work in the area for many years. Clarence also worked at the Knight Ranch at Scandia as a Mule Skinner and as a cook. In 1950, Clarence and Edith bought a farm in the Enchant area and farmed the land for 30 years. Although farming was his life, Clarence pursued other interests including becoming the first counsellor of Enchant when it became part of the M.D. of Taber and was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge. Together with his wife Edith, they raised nine children, Jean (Howard) Olson, Lillian (Herman) Olson, Dale (Dorothy) Rombough, Marion (Ross) Nelson, Marlene (deceased) (Milton) Howg, Wallace (Sylvia) Rombough, Gordon (Cindy) Rombough, Thelma (Barry) Brown, Jobie (Arnold) Carswell. Clarence is also survived by thirty three grandchildren, fifty eight great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Edna (Mel) Ronspies, Walter Rombough, Mary Malinsky, Ruth (Taras) Nawolski and Ellen (Roy) Jensen all of Taber; sisters-in-law, Vivian and Agnes Rombough of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Clarence was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Jean Rombough; six brothers, Clifford, Russell, Archie, Lacey, Mylon and Nelson Rombough; three sisters, Alberta Edwards, Helen Rombough and Jean Rombough; a daughter Marlene; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday October 19, 2001 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Rafir Ramazanov of the Vauxhall Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
