CHESTER RUDOLF

1927 - 2001

Geza (Chester Sr.) Rudolf, beloved husband of Elizabeth Rudolf of Taber, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at the age of 73 years.
Chester was born November 28, 1927 at Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary.
He came to Canada, arriving in Halifax on January 7, 1951 via Germany. He travelled across Canada working at various jobs including logging in Ontario, CP Rail in B.C. and Alberta and finally at the coal mines in Lethbridge in the fall of 1953. It was at this time that he met and married Elizabeth Merkl and settled on the family farm in Taber. They continued to farm for the next 30 years as Chester loved working the land and his special passion, his cattle. In 1983 they retired and moved into town where his yard and garden became his new passion. Upon retirement Chester and Liz enjoyed travelling, especially the special times with their friends in Hawaii and Las Vegas. Chester was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of forty eight years, Elizabeth; six children and twelve grandchildren Anna (Richard) Ferguson and children Darcy (Danna) and Laurie; Marjorie (Allen) Pommen and children Bradley and Kimberley (fiance Andrew Easton); Chester (Jeanne) Rudolf and children Michael and Lindsay; Richard Rudolf and children Joshua, Tara and Corrine; Susan (Keith) Shirakawa and children Jordan and Tanner and Larry (Tracy) Rudolf and daughter Megan; two sisters Anne (Andre) Lecocq of Brussels, Belgium and Katie Takacs of Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary; sisters-in-law Katie Turuk of Calgary and Teresa (John) Fritz of Warburg, Alberta and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Melonia Rudolf, brother Louis, sisters Margaret and Irma and father and mother-in-law Joe and Anna Merkl.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Deacon Mike Whalen officiating. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
