ROY WIEST

1925 - 2001

Roy Leonard “Swede” Wiest, beloved husband of Maisie Wiest of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2001 at the age of 76 years.
Roy was born in Enchant on April 22, 1925 the middle child born to Clarence and Edith Wiest. He enlisted in the armed forces and served overseas before being discharged in 1947. He married Maisie Parlour on October 16, 1948. They farmed east of Enchant later moving to Hays where they also farmed. In 1980 Roy and Maisie moved to Vauxhall where they resided before making their home in Lethbridge in November of 1998.
Besides his wife Maisie, Roy will be forever remembered by his daughter Melanie (Varge) Craig of Coaldale and their children Denver, Aaron and Wesley; four brothers, Cecil (Olivia) Wiest, Phil (Caroline) Wiest, Reggie (Martha) Wiest and Dick (Karen) Wiest; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wiest and Verna Wiest; a brother-in-law Allan Bryant as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Roy was predeceased by his son Barry in 1990; his parents Clarence and Edith Wiest; brothers and sisters, John, Willie, George, David, Mike, Phyllis, Lola and Elsie and numerous other relatives.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor George Takashima officiating.
