Kataryna Nowak, beloved wife of the late Ivan “John” Nowak, passed away in Taber on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber prior to the funeral mass on Friday, October 16, 2015 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Katie is survived by her daughter Mary (Wayne) Gadd of Lethbridge, grandson Jeff Gadd of Edmonton, brother Mikola in the Ukraine as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the Ukraine.
She was predeceased by her husband Ivan “John” Nowak, parents Vasyl and Efrosenia Keba and three brothers in the Ukraine.
Katie was born in Welyka, Suszycia, Ukraine on July 7, 1927. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1950 on a two year contract for sugar beets. They worked and lived in Turin, Barnwell and Taber. They finally settled in Taber where they built their house in 1959. Katie enjoyed doing many different crafts. She was a regular at the farmers market, where she sold her crafts along with produce, especially apples and plums from their garden. Katie enjoyed her garden and flowers.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the nursing staff at the Taber Health Centre who looked after her. Also the doctors, especially Dr. Jillian Demontigny.
