FRED WEREWKA

1915 - 1995

Fred Werewka, beloved husband of Mary Werewka of Taber, passed away on Friday, February 10, 1995 at the age of 80 years.

Fred was born in the Ukraine February 7, 1915. He married Mary Zadan and they immigrated to Canada, residing in Taber since 1950. Fred worked in the construction industry as a finishing carpenter, retiring in 1983. Fred was a man of many talents. He enjoyed music and his family hold dear the memory of him playing his button accordion and piano by ear. He took great pride in his work as a finishing carpenter. In his retirement years, he spent many enjoyable hours going finishing, playing cards with his friends at Parkside Manor and working in his garden. Fred enjoyed people, especially his grandchildren. He had a keen sense of humour and he shared it often with everyone. We love you, Dida.

Besides his wife Mary, Fred is survived by a daughter Jeannie Holstine and husband Brian of Taber and their children Melissa, Brendan and Garrett; a son Walter Sylewko and wife Elaine of Medicine Hat and their daughter Rhonda Nixon and husband Gordon of Parksville, British Columbia and thier sons Douglas and Andrew; a son Fred Werewka Jr. and his wife Sandra of Taber and their children Devin, Jason, Nolan and Andrea.

Fred was predeceased by his parents and a grandson Brian Jordan Holstine.

A Prayer Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, February 13, 1995 at 7:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at 10:30 A.M. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
