Frances was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on September 22, 1933. She was proud of her Metis heritage and loved taking her family back to the Cypress Hills and the Fort Walsh area where her family history and tradition originated. As a young girl she roamed the Cypress Hills with her brothers and sisters enjoying all the hills had to offer.

Frances loved good coffee, socializing and playing games with grandkids. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Frances always had a story to tell, whether it was about her dad's time in residential school or the ghost stories in the hills, there was always a meaning to her story and her children always listened intently to make sure they didn't miss the history.
