Garry Bodnar

1956 - 2020

Garry Brent Bodnar, loving companion of Pat Perl, passed away unexpectedly in Taber on Friday, April 24, 2020 at the age of 63 years.

As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19, and the government’s recommendations, a private service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. A private burial service followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Garry is survived by Pat, his loving companion of twenty years; his daughter Andrea (Jason) Werewka, and his son Erik (Stevie) Bodnar. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Kelsey, Riley, Macey, Grady, Brayden, Trinity and Hailey. Garry is also survived by his Brother Fred (Carol) Bodnar; nephew Brad (Kristin) Bodnar and their children Kennadi and Dallas; nephew Craig (Marisa) Bodnar; niece Tammi (Cale) Leishman and their children Taya and Tori; niece Nicole Bodnar and nephew Mitchell Bodnar and their mother Shauna Bodnar.

He was predeceased by his father Frank Bodnar, mother Mary Bodnar and brother Allan Bodnar.

Garry was born in Taber on October 25, 1956. He was raised on a small farm outside of town where he developed his strong work ethic that carried through to his adult years where he worked in the oil and gas industry. Garry was also well known in the agricultural sector as one of the best baler mechanics around. His hands were never idle, as he was very meticulous with whatever tasks he set out to do, especially out on the farm where he resided, up until the day of his passing.

Garry was a generous man with a huge heart, always willing to help anyone that needed a hand. He had a sense of humour and his laughter and smile would light up the room. During his downtime, Garry most enjoyed spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were the twinkle in his eyes, they were his pride and joy.

Garry will be forever loved, forever missed and forever remembered by all that knew him.
