FUNERAL SERVICE AUDIO RECORDING

Elinor Robertson

1929 - 2021

Elinor Elizabeth Robertson (nee Rowley), beloved wife of the late David Robertson, passed away peacefully in Bow Island on the morning of Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19 and the government recommendations, a private funeral service was held at St. Andrew's United Church, Bow Island on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Bow Island Cemetery.

Elinor is survived by her three daughters Sheila (Pat) Stearns of Seven Persons, Valerie Robertson of Lethbridge and Laurie (Robert) Cooper of Bow Island; four grandchildren Tammy (Peter) Poole, Chris (Suzanne) Stearns, Nicole Cooper and Tara Cooper; five great grandchildren Olivia Poole, Levi Poole, Kennedy Stearns, Tori Stearns and Avery Reesor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cassie Robertson of Tucson, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elinor was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, David Robertson; parents Norton and Grace (nee McGhee) Rowley; four older siblings Adella (John) Deibert, Gordon (Jean) Rowley, Bunny Rowley and Walter Rowley; her in-laws Hugh and Barbara (nee Donald) Robertson; brothers-in-law Donald (Jean) Robertson and Bill Robertson.

Family, immediate and extended, was Elinor’s primary focus and passion. She also loved music, and she shared this gift with the community, especially St. Andrew’s United Church. Volunteerism filled Elinor’s life and heart with joy and purpose. She was actively involved with many church committees and groups, as well as community endeavors, which included the many clubs and groups with which her children were involved. The hospital auxiliary, especially palliative care, the Bow Island Tourism Board, and St. Andrew’s United Church music programs were several, of the many, that were dear to heart. As a lifetime caregiver, Elinor’s life motto was “have an attitude of positivity and the good days will outnumber the down ones.”

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Elinor’s name may be made directly to the St. Andrew’s United Church Memorial Fund, Box 36, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0.
