Anita Florchinger

1936 - 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Maria Florchinger (nee Dolker), in Taber on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

Anita is survived by her four children John (Carol) Florchinger of Taber, Walter (Nola) Florchinger of Foremost, Heidi Florchinger of Taber, and Peter (Lori) Florchinger of Calgary. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Anita was born on May 1, 1936 in the small town of Waldprechtweier, Germany, the only child of Karl and Rosa Dolker. After enduring the horrors of living in Nazi occupied Germany during World War II, Anita immigrated to Canada and married her husband Hans Florchinger in February 1958. They settled in the southern Alberta community of Skiff where they operated a small farm, growing grains and raising animals. The Florchinger farm was like a small zoo. There were cows, goats, chickens, geese, rabbits, cats and dogs. Anita’s passions were gardening and baking. The smells of freshly baked breads and pastries filled the farmhouse on Sunday afternoons. Outside, one could get lost in her immense garden, filled with row upon row of flowers and vegetables. After the passing of her husband Hans in 1994, Anita moved to Taber. She once again, found peace and solitude in gardening, transforming her backyard into a vast array of lush flowering vegetation.

Anita will be privately remembered by her family and friends.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Anita’s name may be made directly to the Taber Lost Paws Society, 5710 - 66 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1B8.
