Valerie Mattice

1953 - 2022

Valerie Corrine Mattice, beloved wife of Bob Mattice, passed away in Taber on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the age of 69 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Vauxhall Legion, 217 - 5 Street North, Vauxhall on Friday, July 15, 2022 between 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.

Valerie is survived by her husband Bob; son Jody Mattice of Vauxhall; daughter Tammy (Howie) Turner of Vauxhall and grandsons Cody (Marisa Holloway), Kevin (Mackenzie McNiven) and Kyle Turner. She is also survived by her mother Patricia Einwechter; sister Brenda (Jimmy); brothers Wayne (Rose), Ron, Bruce and Eddie; in-laws Pat Seredine, Verna Lynch, Art (Chris) Mattice, Sandy Caird and Jimmy (Sherri) Mattice as well as many other relatives.

Valerie was born July 6, 1953 in Guelph, Ontario. While waiting outside a church in Kingston she met Bob Mattice and they married on May 7, 1971. They quicky welcomed their daughter Tammy and son Jody into their adventure. Over their life together, they resided throughout Canada including Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. They finally settled in Vauxhall in 1991. Her first grandson Cody came along in 1996, followed by Kevin and Kyle, solidifying that Vauxhall was home.

Valerie was employed by Prairie Gold for over thirty years, where she found joy in her work and made lifelong friendships with Lucy, Leona and Frank.

The biggest joys in her life were family, friends and community. She often volunteered her time to make her community a better place and loved to lift the moods of those around her with her amazing baked goods.

Valerie was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, friend, mother and especially grandmother. You’d often find her at the hockey rinks, soccer fields and basketball courts. Always there to cheer on and support her boys in whatever they did, they made her so proud. Her ever present optimism and radiating joy will be cherished by all of us.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Valerie’s name may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 110 Quarry Park Blvd, Calgary, Alberta T2C 4P5 www.mssociety.ca.
