Phyllis Neison

1931 - 2023

Phyllis Elizabeth Neison (nee Danforth), beloved wife of Alexander Neison, passed away peacefully at the Cairnsmore Place Long-term Care facility in Duncan, British Columbia on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 91 years.

A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Besides her loving husband Alexander, Phyllis will be missed by her son George (Roberta) Reed and their family Graeme Reed and Amanda Reed all of Calgary. She will also be missed by her brother Leonard (Karen) Danforth of Lethbridge and by her sister Leona Shepherd of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

She was predeceased by her parents Jean and Leonard Danforth, sister Eleanor Goss and her first husband Gordon Reed.

Phyllis was born on the farm in Purple Springs on December 15, 1931 to Jean and Leonard Danforth, the second oldest of four children.

She enjoyed a career as a registered nurse and retired as a Head Nurse at the Cairnsmore Place Long-term Care facility. She was respected for her professionalism, commitment to patient care and compassion for residents and their families.

In retirement, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed many years with Al developing and caring for the expansive gardens surrounding their former home on Koksilah Road in Duncan, British Columbia. She had a particular passion for roses and their gardens contained more that two hundred rose bushes of all varieties.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Phyllis’ name may be made directly to the charitable cause of your choosing.

George and Roberta would like to acknowledge and thank Phyllis and Al’s dear friends Malcolm and Carole Coomber of Duncan, British Columbia, who have been an immense help and support to Phyllis and Al over the years. Many thanks are also extended to the staff at Cairnsmore Place for their care of Phyllis, where she had resided for the past two and a half years.
