James Douglas Greeno, beloved husband of Margitta Greeno, passed away in Taber on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the age of 69 years.

A private funeral service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.

Doug will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Margitta; son James Sandon (Christine) Greeno of Lac Ste. Anne; daughters Chelsey (Jason) Hamel of Medicine Hat and Lacey Zaiser of Taber. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Trinity (Kai), Trace, Kaitlin, Kenadie, Jordon (Shawn), Jayleen (Jeff), Myla and Owen; siblings Sharon (Gordon) Meidinger of Medicine Hat, David (Judy) Greeno of Taber and Wilma (Morris) Hrabluik of Calgary.

Doug was born in Lethbridge on April 15, 1954. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Wrentham, attending schools in Wrentham and Raymond. He enjoyed Cubs and Boy Scouts in his youth and had a great love for baseball, which led to a ball camp in Colorado. In 1976 he married Margitta and together they raised their three children on the farm. He loved all facets of farming as well as caring for livestock periodically. Doug loved the quiet, wide open spaces that goes hand in hand with country living. In 2000, after the farm was sold he operated his own business, Eagle Enterprises and did property management for fifteen years. Doug and Margitta enjoyed camping with the kids, a trip to Disneyland, cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal and a trip to Mexico. He dearly loved playing with and just hanging out with his grandkids who brought him so much joy. Doug was beloved by many and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family.
