Bill played a large role in southern Alberta agriculture. Starting as a ditch rider for St. Mary River Irrigation District, he was then promoted to superintendent for the Eastern District of SMRID. Many farmers will remember his blue company car driving the ditch banks and gravel roads. When he visited the coffee shop at 8AM, he had already checked the gates and reservoirs and water flows of the district. After his retirement from the SMRID, Bill worked for Burbridge Farm for fifteen years. For many years he volunteered with the Bow Island Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Bill loved to travel with family and friends, Vegas was his favourite. Everyone who knew Bill will miss his quick wit, endless one liners and gentle ribbing.
