1936 - 2025

Janet Catherine Neil, passed away peacefully in Lethbridge on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the age of 89 years. After many years of struggling with dementia, Janet is finally free and home with the Lord in Heaven.

The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.

Janet is survived by her sister-in-law Mabel Neil, nephew Jim (Roxane) Neil and niece Sandra Neil.

Janet was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Neil; brother Robert “Bob” Neil; uncle Lorne James; great nephew Cody Hole.

Janet was born in Lethbridge on June 4, 1936. She never married and had no children of her own, but the hundreds of kids she taught in school were all her kids and purpose in life. Janet first taught school in Burdett from 1956 to 1960. She then went to the university in Calgary and Edmonton to complete her degree in teaching. Janet went on to teach elementary school in Calgary until her retirement. From childhood, Janet was a lover of horses. She always looked forward to helping round up cattle or simply riding over the prairie for the sheer enjoyment of riding. Janet will be lovingly remembered by many family, friends and students she taught over the years.
