1961 - 2025

 Gary Allen Duchcherer, beloved son of Darlene and Roger Duchcherer, passed away unexpectedly in Vernon, British Columbia on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at the age of 64 years.

Gary’s memory will be cherished by his parents Roger and Darlene Duchcherer of Taber, his sister Sandy (Gary) Doerksen of Hays and his brother Dale Duchcherer (Lana Oakes) of Vernon, British Columbia. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces Lynn Rattai and Kennedy Oakes; his nephews Travis Doerksen (Christine), Wayne Doerksen (Taylor) and Tyler Oakes; great nieces and nephews Greyden and Charlee Rattai and Lukas Doerksen.

He was predeceased by his brother Darcy Duchcherer in 1987 and by his grandparents.

Gary was born in Medicine Hat on September 21, 1961 and was the second of four children born to Roger and Darlene Duchcherer. Their family lived in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan until Gary was in grade four when they moved to Taber for one year. They then moved to Vauxhall where Gary graduated Vauxhall high school in 1980. He attended SAIT in Calgary where he took his chef’s training.

Gary moved to Vancouver, British Columbia as a cook for six years. He then moved to Vernon, British Columbia where his brother Dale resided. He had different jobs from security guard to chef. He loved cooking for people and he loved his cats.

Gary will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, December 4, 2025 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

A private burial service was held at the Redcliff Cemetery prior to the funeral service on Friday, December 5, 2025.

The Funeral Service was held at the Hays Civic Centre, 100 - 3 Street, Hays on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 2:00 P.M.
