Darrell was born on August 27, 1954 in Lethbridge, the first of four children born to Marvin and Louise Christensen. He spent his early years on the family farm in Wrentham, where life was centered around family, hard work and the simple joys of the countryside. Surrounded by cousins and cherished family traditions, he fondly enjoyed Sunday dinners at his grandparents’ home, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life. In 1965, the Christensen family moved to Taber, where Darrell continued to build the values and character that would define him.
Darrell had a deep appreciation for rural life and never lost his love for farming. He found great happiness in spending time outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, camping, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. He began his working career at a young age alongside his father in the oilfield. Through dedication, hard work and perseverance, his career grew into a lifelong involvement with the family business, Triwell Oilfield Construction, where he remained an important part of the company and its legacy. Darrell was also passionate about horse racing, a past time that brought many family memories.
Anyone who knew Darrell knew he was the ultimate teaser, he had his own name for you and if he got a rise out of you he had done his job well.
Darrell married young and was blessed with three daughters Corey, Tricia and Marissa. Family was always at the center of his life. In 2003, he married the love of his life, Jo-Ann, and proudly welcomed her sons, Jordon and Josh, into his heart and family. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and unwavering support for one another.
Nothing brought Darrell greater joy than his family. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved, sharing stories, celebrating milestones and creating lasting memories. His strength, generosity, wisdom and quiet sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
Darrell’s legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and unconditional love for his family. The lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit remains present in every family gathering, every hunting and fishing trip, every campfire, and every field worked with pride.
“A life well lived leaves footprints on the hearts of those left behind.”
Forever loved, forever remembered. ❤️
